I am going to make this a bit easier on me. I will continue writing down what I eat, but I won’t put down the amounts, just the total calories at the end. Didn’t get many steps in, tried to get in and out of the places and back home.

Cooking 2 dinners! DH wanted ravioli and meatballs. Well, since I asked him what he felt like, I will make that for him. I decided no way for me. I may have a few pieces of ravioli, but that’s it. I remember the day when DH and I ate the entire bag (25 oz/ 5 servings) for one dinner, plus French bread.
Those days are very rare now, I think the last time I pigged out on pasta was when I took a “break” and then we had that one time we had a “French bread dinner” (1 loaf & butter, big salad, and red wine) to get my bread fixJ . DH liked that too, since I deprive him of all the bread now as well. Basically no more bread with dinner, especially when we already have a starchy side dish.
We ended up having dinner at 8:20pm and mine was as followed:
Organic Mixed greens/Sautéed Portabella mushrooms with Yellow Bell peppers and onions/5 ravioli/ and Pacific cod seared in a Japanese dressing! (402) Accompanied by 2 glasses of wine (180). Yummy!!
Dinner Total: 582 Calories

10pm: Frozen Yogurt & Strawberries 189

Went with DH to Loewes to get more plants and lighting for the trees and walkways. He wanted a smoothie and since I have been low on Calories so far I had ones as well.

2:45pm Jamba Juice Smoothie with a “Fem boost” Mango Mantra 280 Calories, lots of protein, 3-5 serving fruit.

Got my steps in, not as many as I would have liked to, but I got my daily goal. We did some work outside and lots of it was standing around in one place, like watering all the new plants. I am not expecting much of a weight loss if any for Monday. Looks like the Ol’ Hag is about to arrive. Well, it’s not like she can really take anything away from me, it just appears to be that way. So I’ll just let her have it her way and I get to have it my way for the rest of the month.J

8 out of 10 times the scale showed 184 (185 the first two times, I almost didn't step on it the 3rd time, but when I saw 184 I knew there was hope:)

We just finished up with the landscaping, for the day. I was out there for about 5 hours total. And we are still not done, but we are getting close, at least with the front part of the house and the driveway area. It’s all going to be worth the hard work

Well, I am in no mood to cook and DH would never ask me to after a day of helping him with the outside projects. So, what’s for dinner??????
6:30 pm: Pizza & lots of water to flush out some of the salt (1163) nothing else for me today!!

Well, I had a choice and I chose not to cook, but having pizza about once a week is nothing unusual, so I just have to work it in somewhere. I already told DH he must take the leftovers with him to work tomorrow. I do not want it in the house. It’s going to be back to having lots of “rabbit food” at least for the next couple of days while he is working.


11pm: I am surprisingly mellow about wanting food. Now I need to get tired so I can go to bed before “something” happensJ.

Oh wait, let’s do crunches!! Haven’t done any and I certainly could use some!!

I had to take a peek and see if I am still 184 lbs lightJ. It’s sticking, I am still 184lbs!!


11:25am 3 egg white/ strawberries

I feel like the energizer bunny, for some reason I can’t stop. Everything I do I step to. Kinda funny, I only started it because I had a very boring standing task ahead of me and since my back always bugs me after standing too long I figured why not “move” around a bit.

I have been bouncing all over the place. Back and forth from one end to the other, then back to where I started . No matter what I did I kept getting interrupted, but for some reason I kept stepping, even when talking to some delivery guys I kept on stepping. Wonder what they must have thought. She must have a nervous condition or something LOL.

For some other reason I don’t seem to get hungry, so I have to make myself at least nibble on something.


2:35pm 4 plums for the garden, yummy

3:10pm I need some carbs, ½ tortilla, chicken and strawberries will do, quick and easy. Not hungry, nor am I in the mood to cook anything.
Finally heading out to run some errands, need to pick up more cedar for the planters.
I better grab something to eat.

5:30pm banana

While driving around I keep wondering why I am not hungry today. Well, will make a good dinner, no matter what.
While at the grocery store it suddenly hits me, I am starving!! The worse place to be hungry at. What am I going to eat? I can’t just get some fruit or veggies, everything has to be weight first. I am looking at pretzels and stuff. I am so not willing to blow 140 calories/serving on so little to eat and then run the risk of triggering a food attack. No way!! I am getting a big bottle of water!! This should help until I find something suitable. And I do, those little packages of grape tomatoes were on sale 2/$5 (not really a bargain) so I got one and started popping one after another all 10 ounces.

6:30pm: 10 oz grape tomatoes!! They did the trick and tied me over until dinner! Which wasn’t until late.

I am doing it again!! Skipping meals! I am not hungry. It’s already 1:30pm and have yet to eat. What is wrong with me I know better than to do this!! I’ll have a banana to start with. Will have to go from there!

I know what it is! I have been on the computer editing photographs for our Home Improvement Website. When I do this time just flies and I forget about everything. The thing is I have been so behind with updates and friends and family keep asking where we are at and what we are doing currently. I would like to get it out of the way and get up to current events again.

I don’t think I will be walking much today. I feel yesterday’s effort hurting my hip muscles. I had planned on doing some yard work and I wanted to start laying the bricks in the inner circle of the driveway, but now it’s too warm. Maybe when it cools off. Heck, I don’t really want to do much of anything, but get the websites updated, but man my back is killing me also. There just is no winning, is there?!!

3:15pm I had a big bowl of fruit with yogurt

I have been all day working on the website. BUT I did get up around

4:30pm (or was it 5:30??J) to water all the new plants. I took advantage of it and started stepping while I was at it. Why stand still if ya can move a little moreJ. Amazing, it took me 45 minutes to get them all soaked very well. We have a drip system, but they need some extra for at least the first couple of weeks.

I had about the same as last night for dinner; cooked double last night, so all I needed to do was reheat it with ground turkey instead of the fish.

Back to work on the websites, almost done.

The doggies “begged” me to play. And since I was such a hermit all day we went out for our little walk in front of the house and played ball for a while. Must have been long enough for the aerobic steps to kick in. I didn’t really bust my butt though. It was nice to get out, but no hard walking.

LOL, this is so funny!! So, after coming back inside I had to take a shower, the dogs just slobbered all over me. I was filthy! Anyways, so while I am in the shower I actually find myself stepping!!! Can you believe?? I was laughing so hard once I noticed what I was doing, the dogs came running in to see what’s going on.


Working some more on getting at least all the pictures up on the site, still have to work on the wording and such. Watching some shows, looking at the clock, it’s
h10:45pm and I still need to update my food journal for today. I know I have been low, so I’ll have a peach while I am adding things up.

Darn still way under 1000, only 759 calories. Normally I would be thrilled, but I know it’s bad to be under. I look up my nutrients for the day and I was right, way too much missing!! I am ½ of most vitamins short, need more than 700mg of calcium, etc.
So here it goes…

I know late to eat, but not unusual for me. At least this brought most of my nutrients up!!

Thursday June 28th, 2007


11am: egg whites/ strawberries

Noon: Watering for about 45 minus, of course I keep stepping instead of just standing there.. How fun, the humming birds just sit there only a couple feet out of reach and they just watched me do my thing, watching themJ

More landscape covering needs to be done (my job). DH is dealing with the bricks today (had more delivered on Monday, now we can finish this projects)
Being out there in the sun is more tasking than one would think, but getting dizzy every once in a while when getting up is an indicator that I need to watch it.

1:30pm Lunch: Pasta, Ground Turkey, Spinach (300)

Went out again and finished all the bags of cedar chips while DH was snoozingJ. He came off a 48hour shift and I guess he is more tired than he wanted to let on.

4pm: Big fruit salad with Yogurt (186)

After that I decided to run some errands instead of being out there in the heat. We needed more ground cover, so off I went out of the sun and to the home improvement store.

Back by 5:30pm and DH is already out there again laying more bricks. Well, the landscaping doesn’t get done by itself eitherJ. I moved a whole bunch of large river rocks into another location, again! I have moved these rocks so many times from one end to the other in this yard. I hope this was the last time!!


We were working til 8:30pm outside so dinner ended up being a toss between something out of a bag (chips sounded so good!), or something healthy. I was in no mood for cooking, all I wanted to do was take a shower and sit down, not even hungry, but I knew it would get me if I don’t eat something. I decided to make it quick and easy. DH wanted a Turkey Potpie (me too!!), that took 9 ½ minutes. I figured I can get myself something whipped during that same time. I went ahead and defrosted a piece of fish under running water and by the time I had the salad all chopped up it was thawed out and ready to be sautéed. That’s the beauty of having seafood handy in the freezer, always ready in minutes!!

9:15pm very late dinner!! Organic greens, with all the fixings, a little pasta and a piece of Orange Roughy.

Slept in late, again, almost 10 am. Wonder why? I will not use it as an excuse for not walking. I WILL walk today, once I have eating something, Yup haven’t done that either. It’s past 11:30 and only had a cup of coffee. Do I see a pattern? Sure do!! It’s so freaking hard to break old habits. So what’s stronger old habits or the desire to lose weight??

What’s for BF today? I’ll make it a quick and easy one!!


Did I tell that I stocked up on a whole bunch of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries on Sunday? 10 boxes of strawberries ($1 each) alone and 2 each of the other kind. They were on sale , I couldn’t resist. Now I am eating berries until they going to come out of my earsJ . Thank goodness I like them so much, also having “green bags” helps a lot. I can keep them fresh in those bags for a couple of weeks. I love when I hit a sale and now don’t have to worry anymore about food going to waste before we are able to consume it.

1:30pm The new pedometer is up and running and so far I think I might regret getting itL J just kidding. Why?? Well, just to check what difference there is between the old and new I clipped both of them on. So, far my old one is 1000 steps ahead. BummerL .
Which means I have to work much harder now to get my steps in. BUT I am fine with it. I want accuracy! What’s the point of getting more steps if I don’t really do the work. So, from now on I know every steps has been earned, no more freebies.

I’ll keep and eye on it for the next few days and see how much of difference there really is between the two of them. I know better once I get around that mountain of mine
Ok, and now it’s really time to get out and get moving! Still not too hot outside.

3:30 pm did about 33 minutes of aerobic walking with the dogs. And then wheeling bricks over to the driveway site. The pedometer doesn’t recognize heavy lifting and pushing wheel barrows, bummer . I think I worked harder doing that then walking for 33 minutes. It does count steps the same as my old one on my walking stretches. That’s good!! It’s just not as sensitive to all the other stuff, like walking in place.
But it’s all good, even if it doesn’t show in “aerobic steps” it will show on the scale and inches lost. Plus, all the toning!!!!


5pm: fruit salad: 1.1 oz blueberries (17)/ 1.2 oz Raspberries (16 )/ 5.3 Strawberries (43) with ½ Yoplait Yogurt (50)/ 1 slice pizza (320)
Total: 446 Calories

The boys and I took another walk early in the evening, before dinner, ended up being about 40 minutes or so. I think I found a new way of folding laundry and getting lots of steps inJ. Here is how it goes: Take one piece off the clothes line than pick a “route” around the garden while folding the item. Depending on which tree I chose to walk around I got between 50-60 steps in by the time I dropped it off into the basket. Of course it was done at a good paceJ . So depending on the amount of clothes you can rake in quiet a few steps. Well, and it’s not like I had anything better to do, so why not hehe.

7:45pm: 1 ½ cups of red cabbage and carrot slaw (48) with Peanut Dressing (33)
Total: 81 Calories

I knew this was jus going to tie me over till I had dinner ready. I was a little unprepared, but managed to get something on the table in 45 minutes. I doubled up so I have one less meal to cook tomorrow.

I can see why I am 2 ½ hours later hungry again.

Up since 7 am, would have liked to sleep me more, but my mind is racing about the upcoming dentist visit. Not sure why, just is.

Trying to figure out how to schedule meals into this day. If I eat now I will be starving during the dentist visit, which isn’t a good thing, I always get so nauseous.
Well, that’s taken care of, they just called and moved up the appointment. Need to down BF real quick and get going.

8:50 am: 1 Whole Wheat Muffin (100)/ 4 egg whites (66)/ 4.8 oz Tomatoes (26)/5 grams Smart Balance (35)/ 2.3 oz Raspberries (30)/ 5.5 Strawberries (45)

Didn’t get home til after 1pm which puts me 4 ½ hours past my last meal. Not good, I know skipping meals or having too much time in between can cause trouble, like overeating= weight gain.

1:30pm Almost the same as last night’s meal, just added some tuna and left the tomatoes out.

The whole left side of my head was numb, the areas that are wearing off are hurting now.

Ended up trying to take a nap, trying! I had to keep making trips to the bathroom. So, what’s the point? Feeling even more icky now, that’s what ya get for taking a nap so late in the day!!

7pm: Big Salad and the one last slice of pizza we still had leftover. (wondering if this cold be a trigger food?)

9:15pm We just came in from outside. I decided that I needed to get my butt off the couch and do a least a few trips up and down the road. (I have not been feeling too good after the dentist visit) About 15 minutes into it I figured let’s make this a “2 for 1”. We still have plenty of bricks that need to be taken to the other side, so I grabbed a pair of gloves and started carrying 2 at a time on my way back. I did this for another 55 minutes. So, I made my aerobic steps really count today. I am happy I made myself go out there this evening!

11pm: major cravings for sweets> made a fruit bowl with ½ yogurt. Thought that would do the trick, well not ……
175 Calories

At this point I was up to 1531 Calories. It’s very acceptable and usually in my bottom range.

But than I had to finish the night off with another late night snack, and not a good one at all: Tortilla chips and more than 1 servings, probably more than 4-5. I will calculate 5, I’d better be higher than lower.

This escape cost me a whooping 700 Calories and all of this so late at night. DO I feel guilty? YES!! Will I throw in the towel, NO!! I move on very well knowing that this won’t be the last time, just not every day!

And not that this is an excuse but I still managed to stay with my calorie range, higher end, but still hanging in there.

Friday June 22nd, 2007
Feeling better today, I think I chewed off parts of my cheek and tongueJ . I was numb til early in the evening. My left ear is still tingly, kinda weird!

Lookin at the portion I had for Lunch I think I am ready to cut them by maybe 1/3rd. I am usually getting full ½ way through it, especially when I make these huge bowls filled with goodies.
I have this thing about portions and I am glad I found a way to make the food I eat at least look like too much to eat. Small portions scare me, I think I said this before, but when I see mini portions I get even more hungry. One might think I was deprived as a child, not the case at all. I don’t know why, but the sense of feeling stuffed to the rim is so calming to me.

Oye!! I think I ate too much, my belly aches. Smaller portions seems more and more like a fantastic idea!!

I managed to get 60 minutes of aerobic steps in by doing laundry. LOL Thank goodness I have so much time on my hands. I carried every single sock from the backyard through the garden upstairs into the house. 60 socks!! DH was just shaking his head . Hey it was way too warm, so I was able to stay under the trees and still get a workout in. And a workout this was!!

60 socks/ 60 minutes/ 5774 steps. Not as many than I would get in on my usual walk, but since the territory is a bit rough currently I had to step over some things and be a bit more careful. Plus, it was pretty warm, so by the time I was ½ way through going up and down the stairs I had to slow down a little.

4:30pm: Propel Calcium Fitness Water (30)

7:30pm Did another 25 minutes of walking around, in front of the house, around the garden, around the house, in front of the house etc. I think the doggies think their mommy is a little cookoo.

Dinner will be still another hour or so, had a couple plums and whatever kind of fruit there was ripe on the treesJ . How fun picking fruit, reminds me being a kid.
Now I’ll do some abs before I take a shower so I can check that of my list as well.

Got up late which explains somewhat the first late meal and why I didn’t go for a walk this morning. Maybe I’ll get one in later when it cooled off.

Have to run errands and since I will hit my 3 hour mark to eat I packed up a snack, which I had at

Did a lot of walking around the stores, got at least 10k in for today, but I will make sure I will get to my daily goal of 12k, no matter what.
Got home from running errand by 5:30pm and DH would like to finish up some projects in the garden so we will have dinner around 7 pm. No problem, I just have a snack, I am hungry, I need to eat, otherwise I will binge at dinner.
5:50pm: 1.5 oz each Blueberries (24) & Raspberries (20)/ 3.5 oz Peach (33) mixed with 1 Yoplait (100)/.
Total: 177 Calories
Now that took care of my hunger and my sweet cravings, which was probably caused by me being hungry in the first place. I am glad I made this connection!!
Pizza night. DH asked for it and he is only here one more night before he goes back to work, so no biggy, I love pizza. I bought a large instead of our usual family size. We usually get the bigger size so we have leftovers for lunch, but since DH won’t be home, I DON’T want it in the house!
I’ll serve a salad with it, so no question about having “enough” to eat.

Yes, my pedometer is finally there. I will set it up tonight to have it all ready in the morning.
It seems this has been a moderate day with everything, movement (no walk, but still ok on steps), food, really good throughout the day and since I knew early on that we were having pizza (after my first meal) I kept the snacks high volume, but low calories.
I am a bit short on some nutritional items; need to start looking into it closer throughout the day, so I can determine what’s still missing.

Ok guys, here it is!! So, as I was saying yesterday I got myself a little surprise getting on the scale. It showed the amazing numbers of 187.5 lbs. That was 6 lbs less than last week. I was so happy being close to what I weight back in April (186.5). I just couldn't believe it and as you all know I was very determined (little worried) not to gain anything back til this morning. We all know this can happen, right? I was a little concerned, I had Sushi, but I also had 19 cups of H2O. So I was confident I flushed the sodium all out. Ok, it's time to face the real hard facts. Does the scale lie? I sure hope not, at least not today, please!! I double triple checked and the same numbers came up: 185lbs!!???? I was so disappointed, oh no not again, and then it dawned on me, 185 not 195. YEAH!!! I lost 8.5 lbs. I don't think I have ever lost this much weight in one week, ever!! Now that's what I call MOTIVATION!! And please don't worry, I will be just as happy with only a pound loss next Monday. I promise!! Just to have gotten over this hump and to this point it's so "freeing" to me. Now I am back to where I needed to be, far away from 190 LOL. I don't want to go there again. 180's here I come!!

Thursday:
hehe, so not good at keeping a journal like this:) I still have the one my mom gave me when I was 12 years old and it's still not 1/2 way filled with my deepest, darkest secrets LOL

Looks like we are going to have an even hotter day than yesterday. I woke up sweating like a little piggy:) it's over 80 in the house already. The A/C is in, but we still have so many holes in the walls I have a really hard time turning it on. I will tonight to cool down the upstairs , otherwise the ceiling fans will have to do the job throughout the day. Thank goodness DH is working, he'd be miserable right now. The forcast says 102, but we always have to add a few up here on the hill.

Had a big fat chimi for dinner last night, it was goooooood and so baaaaaad at the same time. Well, I am not sweating it I have all the intentions on doing the right things today and the days thereafter.

Seeing that I had lost a couple of pounds yesterday morning is very encouraging to me. I know it's always very tricky, especially when you see this mid week. So much can happen between now and then (like last night's BIG FAT CHIMI!!!!), I need to stay realistic, but encouraged.

I can feel that I am back to "really wanting" it again. Which is good! I am very happy that I only "took a break" for two month rather than taking the usual two years+. I look at this being a good thing. It shows me I haven't given up on myself again, nor resigned (I know I am spelling this one wrong!!) to the fact that I will be overweight forever.

I still believe I can do it this time around! And yes, I know there are going to be days I feel like giving up, but all of this is normal, it's made this way so I can get stronger on my way to the finish line and be prepared for the curve balls life will continue throwing my way.



Now this sounded soooooo deep LOL. We'll see how I feel a week from now LOL

It's Friday .....

....and it's the weekend. Finally, the house is quiet again. The A/C unit is pretty much done. DH will be working Sat/Sun and I get to have the house all to myself for 2 days!! I am sure I won't be doing much of anything. Maybe get a walk done, but that will be it. The couch has been reserved and I will be catching up on a weeks worth of shows.
I have been so tired these last few days, I have to make myself get up and do things. Like today, I went for a 6.3 mile walk. I am pooped. I think I overdid it a bit, 5 miles would have been enough.

I wish DH would come inside now and stop weed wacking. I didn't notice it before, but now this noise is burning itself into my brain.
I want it to be quiet. Why can't he just quit, he never knows when to stop. Works 48 shifts, works overtime and then works on his days off on the house. I think I will go outside and tell him to pack it up.

I am back!! And he did, reluctantly, but he did. I couldn't help but laugh, looking at his face (someone took his toy away). We'll see how long it will be until he actually gets inside. There are many "obsticles" on the way into the house that could cause him to get side tracked.

4 minutes!!! That's a record! BUT wait, he forgot he still has to put a piece of pipe in somewhere ........ that's my man:)
